Key point: To carry out a retrospective analysis of bitch dystocia and to evaluate basic dystocia risk factors, review diagnostic and treatment methods. Main tasks: To evaluate the influence of breed and age on difficult births. To evaluate and analyze common causes of bitch dystocia. To analyze the benefits of bitch vital signs and special testing methods in the diagnosis of dystocia and treatment strategy. To analyze and describe the most commonly used methods of treatment of dystocia and newborn survival. Main results: Dystocia was most common in: Pomeranian Spitz – 23.1 %, Yorkshire Terriers – 10.3 %, Russian Toy Terriers - 10.3 %, Bull Terriers - 7.7 %, Chihuahua - 7.7 %, French Bulldog – 7,7 %, West Highland White Terries - 7.7 %, Welsh Corgi Pembrokes - 7.7 %, mixed breeds - 7.7 %. Dystocia more commonly was diagnosed in small breed bitches - 69.2 %. The most prevalent were 2 – year - old bitches - 30.8 %. According to the cephalic index, most cases of dystocia were diagnosed in mesocephalic bitches – 54 %. Dystocia was most commonly diagnosed at day 63 of pregnancy - 30.2 %. Dystocia was diagnosed in 74.4% of primary pregnancies. The uterine cervix was dilated 1.2 times more often than it was closed. The longitudinal position of the fetus was the most common – 79 %. Fetal head presentation was 1.3 times more common than other presentations. Dystocia of mother causes was diagnosed 1.3 times more frequently than fetal causes. Primary uterine inertia was diagnosed in 55 %. The most commonly used treatment method was surgical 82.1 %
